The “Pop News” Series of works explores the relationship between popular culture and world news, using data from two popular online projects, Google Trends and the Wikipedia Current Events Portal. Both of these projects consist of almost entirely user submitted content and collected user data. Each day for six weeks, spanning the time frame of September 1st through October 12th, 2013, a log was kept of the top Google search term for each day, as well as the top world news stories listed on Wikipedia. With this formula, weekly silk screens were created that visually merge this data.
Ongoing data used in this series can be accessed at the following URLs:

- Wikipedia Current Events Portal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Current_events
